Wire color varies. This dipole has been built for reliability and performance. It has been optomized for the 17 meter band only. The antenna is built to be used with 50 to75 ohm feedlines and can be used with full legal power and will provide a close match when properly installed, (low swr) to any transmitter or transceiever. Materials include 14ga stranded pure copper elem ents, poly insulators and incapsulated UHF SO-239 termination. There is no exposed metal hardware to corrode or rust from exposure to extreme weather conditions. The encapsulated termination prohibits the collection of condensation eliminating intermittant and high resistance connections which can cause intermittant or even no reception and poor efficiency. It is my own experience in using and building dipole antennas for more than 50 years that this type of antenna rates high in performance for not only stateside communications, but also dx work. As with any antenna, proper installation is important for best performance. NOTICE: For safety reasons, this antenna is constructed using INSULATED wire. DO NOT install your antenna over/under or near power lines, even though the use of insulated wire should prevent isevere injury or even death from electric shock.
