Description
This 10 inch tall loading coil can be used to tune in the lower AM band as well as Long Wave Ham Radio. Will generate Tesla Coil voltage action when driven with about 1 watt of radio frequency energy at approximately 1477 KHz from a 50 ohm RF signal source. For licensed Ham Radio use below 490 Khz, connect a vertical antenna and top capacitive hat to bring it to resonance. Will load up 50 ohms by wrapping a few turns on the grounded side of the coil. Can match other impedances also. Can be used in QRP transmission and for tuning wire antennas to Long Wave and the lower AM broadcast band. Slide a ferrite rod into it to tune, or connect a 400pF variable capacitor across it. Connect to the microphone input of a sensitive audio recorder and place a long piece of iron into it to listen to VLF tweeks and whistlers below 5 Khz Very Low Frequency VLF. Hand made in USA.
